Good morning, Chandler Friends:

Over the weekend I went to Walmart with the family to pick up some Christmas supplies. You know the kind of stuff I’m talking about. We needed strands of Christmas lights (soft white) to make up for the ones that mysteriously stopped working between this year and last. We needed hot chocolate. And of course we needed mini marshmallows to go with it. After finding everything we needed, we made our way to the checkout line.

Trying to be friendly as the lady at the cash register bagged our Christmas supplies, I made the comment: “What do you say let’s skip right over Thanksgiving and get on with Christmas?”

Her response made me stop and think. She said, “We can’t skip Thanksgiving. Everyday is a day for giving thanks. We have more blessings than we can count!”

You know what? She’s right! In my love and anticipation for Christmas, I’ve been tempted to overlook Thanksgiving. While Thanksgiving doesn’t hold a candle to Christmas (for all sorts of reasons, religious and otherwise), I don’t want to skip an opportunity to give thanks to God. I want to live with gratitude! And I know you do too.

So, what are you grateful for? Spend some time giving thanks to God this week. As you recollect the many blessings God has brought your way, may you also become a blessing to others.

Happy Thanksgiving! Keep reading to find out what’s coming up (and what’s been going on) at Chandler Friends Church.

The youth group had their annual, “Friendsgiving” just a couple of weeks ago. Click above to watch a brief video from their evening together. We’re thankful for our youth group and youth leaders!

The Christmas Card Exchange is up and running! Grab your list of names on the kiosk in the north foyer. If you don’t want to buy Christmas cards this year but would like to do the card exchange, the Outreach Committee has several bags of free cards for your use. You can also find those at the kiosk. We hope you’ll participate!

This is a celebration! Please RSVP at the kiosk in the north foyer so that we know how many people to prepare for. You can also reply to this email with your name and the number of people you’re bringing with you. The meal is free but if you would like to donate to offset the cost of catering, we would greatly appreciate it. You can do so at the kiosk or the night of the dinner. We hope you’ll come out and enjoy the evening together!

Every year Evangelical Friends Mission (EFM) puts out the Christmas Catalog. You can pick one up on your way into worship next Sunday at this lovely table put together by members of the Outreach Committee. A little bit of our USD goes a long way in the mission field. Please consider adding EFM to your Christmas generosity this year.

Click here to give through EFM’s Website.
