Good afternoon, Chandler Friends:

Yesterday we had the chance to hear from EFM missionary Brad Carpenter. If you missed the service but would like to hear what Brad had to say, you can click here for the recording. Brad challenged us with the universal call to missions that originated with the first disciples of Jesus. Jesus says in Acts 1:8,

“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Jesus’ call to “be my witness” extends not just to the first disciples, to missionaries, or to any other special “class” of Christians. The call to be a witness for Jesus is for all Christians.

What might that look like for you? How can you be a witness for Jesus as a mom, dad, employer, employee, citizen, or whatever role you find yourself in? That’s a hard question to answer. But as Brad told us, the Holy Spirit will help us know how to answer that question as we open ourselves to the Spirit’s leadership. One way to do that is to pray this simple prayer throughout our day: “Lord, show me the way to go.” Those aren’t magic words, but that prayer can help tune our attention to the always present, always leading Spirit of God. Try that prayer out this week—and let me know how it goes!

As always, keep reading to find out more about what’s coming up and how you can help. And may God bless you this week.

The Stewards Committee invites you to come to one or both of the upcoming work days. As you know, it takes lots of time and money to keep our buildings and grounds looking beautiful. Here are the projects we’re tackling this week:

  1. Finish the privacy fence around the children’s playground (stain fence, hang gates).
  2. Clean water damaged ceiling tiles in the Worship Room
  3. Clean the yellow classroom and Scout building
  4. Replace/fix the door on the storage shed behind the church.
  5. Hang the website sign back up.

Questions? Contact Stewards Board Chairperson, Steve Brown (405-258-6612‬)

Vacation Bible School will be here before we know it! Make sure to save the date. If you’d like to help, reach out to Education Committee Chairperson, Ashley Kuczinski (405-620-2663‬).

Thank you to everyone who came out to help with the fundraiser at the Ice Cream Festival. That includes all of you who came to eat! We ended up raising more than enough money to host the Carpenter family for the weekend, and send them out with financial gift. I want to especially say, “thank you” to the Outreach Committee and its chairwoman, Angie Sherman.
